Esfarayen, a city located in North Khorasan Province and 704 kilometers away from the Iranian capital of Tehran, hosts an annual Choukhe wrestling competition. Over 50,000 spectators from across Iran gather at the “Zeinal-نhan” arena in Esfarayen to witness this popular event. Renowned Olympic athletes and world champions take part in this championship, making it one of Iran’s most prestigious local sports competitions. The wrestlers wear a unique attire known as “Choukhe,” which consists of a short cape fastened with a white shawl.
