The billboard supporting the national team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Jun 14, 2018, at Valiasr Square was widely criticized as it didn’t show women football fans and changed shortly.

We are thrilled to announce that Javid Nikpour has been honored with the prestigious grand prix at the 2019 Paris Sport Photo Award for their captivating series titled “After 40 Years.”

The poignant narrative of “After 40 Years” revolves around the remarkable journey of women who, for the first time in four decades, could step inside the Azadi stadium to witness the FIFA World Cup 2018 matches between Iran and Spain, as well as Iran and Portugal. This historic development marked the lifting the ban on women attending stadiums in Iran.

The series “After 40 Years” is an integral part of a larger, thought-provoking project that delves into the contemporary issues of Iran, encompassing cultural, political, and religious dimensions. Through the lens of both football enthusiasts and non-football fans, the project sheds light on the profound impact of these aspects on the lives of Iranians.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Javid for this well-deserved recognition, and we commend their dedication to capturing such a significant moment in Iran’s history through their compelling visual storytelling.
